Associate Project Manager

Job Description

SHS is looking for an associate project manager in our Kansas City, MO office. We are seeking an individual who has a basic understanding of project management methodology, a great attention to detail and is ready to work in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be able to manage multiple priorities for clients and has a desire to drive the overall workflow process.

The goal for this role is to assist the project manager throughout all stages of the project, ensuring projects flow in and out of the agency, and exceed clients’ expectations.


  • Assists project manager
  • During early stages of project gathering
  • Holding team accountable for strategic deliverables progress and helps guide next steps
  • Creating annual planning timelines; updating and versioning schedules as needed
  • Helping with day-to-day management
  • Making status document updates and gathering the agenda for the meeting
  • Entering estimates into project management software: WebVantage
  • Entering timelines into kickoff documents
  • Facilitating internal reviews to stay on task and to note any schedule/workload shifts
  • Resolving scheduling and resources conflicts
  • Facilitating post-project meetings as needed to gain lessons-learned and best practice info

Project Ownership

  • Manages tactical projects from start to finish determined by scope
  • Participates in the kickoff meeting to help facilitate and/or speak to the schedule/hours allocations
  • Serves as the internal contact for job progress
  • Ensures proper change management documentation is executed as scope increases or decreases or project priorities shift
  • Schedules internal project meetings for all projects
  • Chooses resources for owned projects
  • Creates and maintains timelines in system for owned projects
  • Cross references changes before routing through to team
  • Ensures overall quality assurance process so that the project is delivered correctly to the next person
  • Owns the routing with the necessary team members for all projects
  • Works with creative teams/cross-team to level workload
  • Tracks hours and reports project financials for owned projects
  • Stays informed about the project once its deployed to help with any weekly status updates
  • Stays involved in project management related process committees as assigned

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor-level degree in business, marketing, advertising or related field
  • 1-3 years of experience managing projects in a business environment
  • Ability to lead and motivate project teams to be accountable to project deliverables
  • Ability to clearly communicate to key stakeholders project deliverables, scope and budget details
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven attention to detail
