Position Overview

SHS is looking for a strategic and experienced Account Director to add to our ever-growing team.

The Account Director is an expert when it comes to great client relationships. This person knows the client’s brands inside and out, and provides leadership and guidance for the client’s business to other team members. The Account Director serves as the primary overarching client contact and delegates to other team members as needed. This person is also responsible for managing both client and team profitability. 

Here’s what the ideal candidate will do:


  • Maintains strong client relationships on strategic and day-to-day levels
  • Leads account managers, project managers PR managers in all functional aspects of the business and portfolio of brands
  • Collaborates with and guides creative team members for design and thought leadership
  • collaborates with brand strategist on brand strategy development
  • Shares client feedback and utilizes all pertinent agency functions to develop solutions to feedback
  • Proactively brings creative solutions and critical thinking to the client’s business


  • Maintains superior knowledge and understanding of client’s products and messaging formats
  • Understands the industry competitive environment, including marketing programs of competitors
  • Has superior strategic planning experience and confidence in leading brand plan strategy and activating integrated marketing communications tactics


  • Communicates with the client and team in an efficient, effective and collaborative manner
  • Leads the team and client to create the most unsheeplike work possible
  • Is the point-person for all projects, billing and any and all details important to the team and to the client
  • Reviews work based on strategic imperatives, competitive environment, audience, product information, client mandatories, brand standards, production specs, legal and regulatory requirements

Here’s what the ideal candidate needs to have:

  • 10 – 12 years of experience in Account Management in an agency setting with Animal health industry knowledge
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Advertising or Communications
  • 7-10 years of solid experience in supervising and successfully developing others
  • Strong, well-rounded experience in all aspects of Marketing and Advertising
  • Exceptional written, verbal communication skills and strong presentation skills
